Antique Heel Seat Iron by Dischert Paris

Used to produce a decorative finish to the top of the heel. Double sided with a plain edge and a grooved decoration edge.

This tool is typical of late 19th century Parisian shoemaking and not commonly found in other traditions.

Some examples have wheels and it’s possible to think it eventually went out of favour for the slide box seat wheel. It may also be related to finishing stitched heal seats which can be found on boots of that period.
