Leather Splitting Machine by Fernand Mayer Paris
Leather Splitting Machine by Fernand Mayer Paris
Rare antique Leather Splitting Machine by the French manufacture Fernand Mayer Paris.
The full name for this tool given by the manufacture was “Machine à Parer, Jonctionner & Bomber”.
Designed to split leathers down to required thickness. Ideal for reducing welts, fine trimming stiffeners and such applications. Also widely used in leather craft and saddlery work.
Desired thickness is set by adjustable locking bracket set on a graduated ring. The leather is placed under the blade. The lever is then pulled back, raising the roller against the blade and the piece of leather pulled through to be trimmed.
The roller can also be raised manually by two actioning screws. It can be set parallel or asymmetrically to blade to achieve bevelled cuts.
Stamped: Fernand-Mayer à Paris (on blade)
and
