16 spi Antique Stitch Marking Wheel
16 spi Antique Stitch Marking Wheel
£0.00
Antique stitch marking wheel by an English workshop.
In likelihood made around 1850-80s, this comes as part of a shoemaker’s kit, of which all items dated to the mid 19th century.
Used to pin mark stitches before hand sewing uppers. Stitch marking wheels are usually very old, as the technique of hand sewing uppers for shoes almost entirely disappeared by the beginning of the 1900s.
The wheel has a guider edge (right handed use) to lead along the edge of the leather and keep consistent distance.
