A fine grade 2 Slide Box Seat Wheel by Jupp, London

Recent research reveals this workshop was in activity over at least three generations: John J. Jupp, George F. Jupp and Frederick G. Jupp.

This is a very early model with a shorter iron and more curvature to handle shape. It also does not include ‘London’, which was later added on the stamp. Made around 1850s, probably under John or George Jupp.

This grade 2 is in the smaller range to be found and with a strong forward pitch, ideal for ladies’ work and very pitched heeled shoes.

Height of print: approx. 1.2-1.5mm

Stamped: 2 Jupp

Depth of wheel can be adjusted to make a shallower or deeper print.
